Understanding Bereavement and Grief Workshop

Over the 2 days of training we aim to give you an introduction to some of the key themes of bereavement and grief and to consider your own responses and feelings about death and bereavement. We aim to enhance your skills in working alongside people experiencing bereavement and to consider your own communication skills in these situations.

We will give time to consider the particular responses of children and young people facing the death of significant people in their lives, and again consider your own responses to these events.

We will also give some space to consider the importance of self-care and support for people who work in these settings.

We aim to give a general introduction in Day 1 as it is important to have a good understanding of bereavement and grief generally before applying this to children and young people. Day 2 will build on the knowledge and discussions from Day 1. Day 2 will also be more practical with more space for discussion.
